How do your HR practices measure up against the new Aged Care Quality Standard?

The new Aged Care Quality Standards are coming in from 1 July 2019 and organisations are looking at how they measure up against the new standards. Consumer dignity and choice is the foundation standard and overarching philosophy.

How do you ensure that consumer dignity and choice is the driver for your organisation? And what are the implications for your systems, processes and people?

We believe people implement change. Making sure your HR and people development processes are relevant and meaningful is the key to embedding a culture shift.

Asking yourself these questions is a starting point:

  • What are the values (and more importantly) the behaviours you expect from all employees to demonstrate consumer choice and dignity?
  • How do you recruit new people to a values based organisation?
  • What are employees accountable for in your organisation, and how do you measure this and hold them accountable?
  • How do you enable your employees to grow and develop, and be the leaders of the future?
  • How do you ensure that your employees are engaged and providing excellent services for your clients?

These questions and more need to be addressed as part of the assessment for the new Quality standard for Human Resources.

We want organisations to look critically at all their HR processes and systems, and ask themselves – “how is this contributing to providing a quality service to clients and their families?”
